Our acts in 4 pillars

Listening to our key stakeholders we designed four key pillars where we as an organisation can make the biggest impact. Our four ESG pillars set out our strategy and allow us to set clear goals. Check out our four pillars and how we act on them.

Drastically reduce our impact across the supply chain.

We are actively working to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions from all our activities in line with the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal. Our overall goal is to achieve Net Zero in 2050.

We are happy to share that we have already taken a big step toward this goal: Over the last two years, we have accomplished an absolute emission reduction of 16%. This puts us on track to meet our short term target of a 25% reduction by 2030.

Here are our exact numbers:

  • 2022: 423,063 ton CO2eq
  • 2024: 348,780 ton CO2eq

A clear insight into our emissions across the three scopes has shown us the necessary levers to achieve our overall goal. In alignment with this standard, we continue to reduce our emissions from our value chain toward 2050 compared to our 2022 baseline.

Using our strong position in the supply chain, we are committed to working closely with all parties involved.

And how we do that? By looking at every step of our value chain—from how we select partners, how we design products, and which inhouse adjustments we can make, to ensure we lower emissions in both the upstream and downstream activities.

We know the first steps are often the biggest and the final ones the hardest. By actively anticipating new developments in sustainable materials, end-of-life scenarios, and recycling technologies, we are confident we will achieve our ambitious goals.

Through this pillar, we actively contribute to SDG 13 “Climate action”. For more information about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, click here!

Scope 1 explained:
Covers direct emissions from sources that a company owns or controls, such as fuel combustion in company vehicles or boilers.
Scope 2 explained:
Includes indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, or cooling consumed by the company.
Scope 3 explained:
Encompasses all other indirect emissions in a company’s value chain, including those from suppliers, business travel, and the use of products sold.

Set ambitious social standards for all involved with Solo midocean.

We promote respectful and safe working conditions, both in our own facilities and in those of our partners all over the world. We will focus on human rights, aim to improve the living conditions and promote well-being at work, training, and inclusion.

The key element to make this happen is auditing our factories on their practices and we will therefore increase the number of items produced in a socially audited factories to 90% by 2030.

Through this pillar, we actively contribute to SDG 8 “Decent work and economic growth”. For more information about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, click here!

Creating awareness by sharing knowledge both internally and externally

As one of the leaders, we have a responsibility to demonstrate that meaningful and genuine change is possible. By openly sharing our knowledge with partners through webinars, academies, and our website, we turn our commitments into tangible actions.

Through a transparent and accessible exchange of knowledge, we create a community for everyone to grow and continuously improve how we work together.

Through this pillar, we actively contribute to SDG 4 “Quality education”. For more information about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, click here!

Promoting sustainable practices across the industry.

Using audits and certifications we bring more transparency to our supply chain. At Solo midocean, we believe that we are far stronger together. This is why we are involved with several international associations; if we act together, we can act stronger.

Via supply chain certificates we will look to set the standard for the industry making it easier for others to follow. We know the power of our voice as one of the industry leaders and therefore will look to actively promote the ongoing development of a sustainable supply chain.

Through this pillar, we actively contribute to SDG 12 “Responsible consumption and production”. For more information about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, click here!
